Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the US. She has worked as media critic since. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, commentary and analyses of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. She is the founder and director-general of Feminist Frequency which is an education, non-profit site that examines the representation of women within popular culture narratives. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is her main focus. But, she also explores the issue of specifically targeted harassment online against women and for other groups who are marginalized. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in the fields of social thought and political science at York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public presenter. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. When she was a student at the university Sarkeesian was interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women in the early stages. This ambitious woman planned to launch an internet program that would examine the gender roles in games but was the target of a harassment campaign online. She was not deterred from the attack, and in fact it only reinforced her determination to be a media critic and feminist. She is a recipient of numerous awards for her contribution to the cause of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her role as a critic of the media, and she founded Feminist Frequency. The non-profit explores the portrayals of women in popular culture of today.
